"Send men to spy out the land of Canaan,
which I am giving to the people of Israel."
-Numbers 13:2

A land filled with dangers and heathens. 'The descendants of Anak were there,' formidable giants, seemingly impossible to overcome. But there was also beauty and abundance, the potential for it to be a fruitful and prosperous land for the children of Israel, 'flowing with milk and honey.' Ten of the twelve spies saw only the former danger and desolation; they saw not what it could become in the name of the Lord. Joshua and Caleb saw the potential for beauty, and trusted the Almighty to lead them in conquering the land. We are spies, Believer, sent out in the Lord's name to spy out the land surrounding us. We must warn others of its dangers, encourage them in the battle against it, and be prepared and willing to lead them in the repossession of our world for the Lord. The danger may be great, but the potential far surpasses it in greatness. Souls lie in wait to be harvested, captives pine to be released, sadness and mourning have need of a reason to be turned into laughter and dancing. If we go, the Lord has already promised to give it into our hands. Will you be a Joshua?
