Quotation Tuesday

"Whatever makes a man a good Christian also makes a good citizen." -Daniel Webster

We ask what has gone wrong in our country, we ask how something so beautiful could have become so terribly broken, but we do not realize that without a firm foundation how can we have a secure future. Our country was founded and built upon the principles of God's Word, and the moral and ethical laws found therein. Our founding fathers (for the most part) were men of character and integrity. They made mistakes just as all of us do, but they encouraged honor, loyalty, and Biblical principles.

Now we wonder why our nation is broken, decaying, and crumbling before our eyes. The answer is simple; a nation made up of broken people cannot itself be sound, just as a building constructed using sticks and Elmer's Glue will not long stand. Until we learn to run to God and not away from Him we should not be foolishly asking questions that He can easily answer.

Those who refuse to admit to the immense brokenness of our nation have been blinded; perhaps by prejudice, pride, regret, and always by sin. They attempt to save the trees or the whales, while averting their eyes to the industry that kills 4,000 human being each and every day.

Our nation is broken, and it isn't because God has forsaken those who have called upon His name, it is because the majority of our citizens have never even looked His way, let alone call to Him. As we call on Him louder and more earnestly may we enable other to see Him and call to Him for the very first time. Only then can our nation be healed.

If my people, who are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
