Scarcity of Christian Dancers

  Is it just me or have any of you noticed a shortage of Christian dancers? Especially when the level of dancing gets higher there seems to be fewer and fewer dancing believers. I think the reason for this is the self-glorifying nature of dance. Dancers, especially in ballet, are praised for their strength, poise, and overall beauty. We spend hours every week twisting and turning our bodies into what most people see as unnatural positions, just so that we can create beautiful lines. We check these lines in a wall-to-wall, floor-to-ceiling mirror to make sure that not even a finger is out of place. I am sure you can see how easy it would be to fall into the trap of praising ourselves. 

  Romans 1:25 says that we have worshipped and served the creature more than the creator. This is so true! Why are there so few Christian dancers?, because they do not know their creator. The second part of Romans 1:25 says that the creator is blessed forever. Why glorify your own immortal body when God has allowed us to use it to glorify Him!?! The next time you check a position in the mirror remember that you are the creature, be humbled and think of your creator!
